STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE
Ensure indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) and grass-roots innovation are integrated and aligned with mainstream research, development and innovation initiatives within the national system of innovation to contribute to other bioeconomy sectors.
IKS can be broadly defined as the knowledge and practices that an indigenous (local) community develop over generations of living in a particular environment. This includes all forms of knowledge, know-how, skills, practices and beliefs that enable a community to achieve stable livelihoods in their environment.
