Kindly join the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) and The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for a series of webinars on COVID-19 and the workplace. The webinars focus on the realities and challenges of facilities management and safeguarding employees as South Africans return to work. The hierarchy of infection control measures that consist of administrative, environmental and personal protection measures underwent radical change since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and best practices in facility management and providing a safe workplace have been found to be inadequate against the protection and spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Understanding the virus and how it is spread is paramount to design effective and efficient standards for facility management and behavioural change among employees.
The target audience is Facilities Managers, Building Engineers, Occupational Health and Safety Practioners, Employers and Healthcare Workers. The topics covered are risk assessment, office configuration and cleaning, the microbiome of the office environment and precautions for traveling between the workplace and home. The practicalities and challenges of the new paradigm in facilities management will be supported by two case studies.
Format: The series of webinars will be held on Friday 3 July 2020, Tuesday 7 July 2020 and Friday 10 July 2020, from 11:00 am – 12:30 am (GMT). In each webinar three of the topics will be presented and at the end there will be sufficient time for an interactive questions and answers session with the presenters. Afterwards the presentations and Q&A will be posted on the website.
