SA, European Union Launch Research And Innovation Funding Initiative For Africa

A multi-million rand programme to fund research and innovation initiatives in Africa will be launched this week under the Horizon Europe programme.  The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the European Union (EU) will host a virtual event on Friday, 16 July.

The role of research and innovation activities and policies is becoming increasingly urgent in addressing Africa and Europe's shared challenges – the need to promote sustainable growth and employment, the transition to a green economy, digital transformation, mobility, security and good governance and currently, crucially, a pandemic.
